The first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “Opera” probably has nothing to do with children or modern classics. This Easter weekend, L’Arietta Productions will be shattering all preconceptions about Opera with their production, Alice in Wonderland, at Aliwal Arts Centre.
They’ll be transforming the classic by Lewis Carroll into a 75-minute opera laden with nostalgia and interesting modern twists.
The opera that they’ll be performing was written by Robert Chaul and premiered in 1978. 40 years later, this beloved opera piece will be making its Southeast Asian debut.
L’Arietta Productions is a local opera company known to produce quality bite-sized works with exceptional attention to detail. They utilise hand-painted costumes and work with award-winning video artist, Pandora Wong.
In addition to the opera, there’ll be a carnival which caters to both children and adults, so be prepared to stay the whole afternoon. Spend your Easter weekend this year slightly differently and grab tickets to head down the rabbit hole!
