We’ve all witnessed the onslaught of literary festivals that have taken place in previous months, and something equally exciting is coming this April 2017.
SingPoWriMo, short for Singapore Poetry Writing Month, challenges members in the rapidly-growing Facebook group to write poetry for 30 days.
Every day for 30 days, you can either choose to post a poem responding to the quirky but challenging prompts (“Write a poem that is a riddle” or “Write a poem on a specific MRT station”) set by a team of “sadistic” moderators (which includes published poets and writers), or you can write whatever.
At the end of the 30 days, the team of selected editors will sieve through all the posts and create a compilation titled SingPoWriMo The Anthology.
It’s an amazing platform to learn, hone your writing skills and meet fellow budding poets. After all, poetry is for everyone.
