Heads up, K Beauty lovers! The Korean Beauty industry has started rolling out 2018 releases and The Face Shop is one of them. We had a chance to try out the whole new range of Flat Velvet & Glossy Lipsticks and here’s what we thought.
Slim, compact lipsticks that are able to achieve the precision of lip liners. Shades inspired by the winter/ autumn trend. A semi-matte finish that promises to last for hours or a glossy finish that will hide your lips’ worst state.
Did these lipsticks live up to all its claims?
More or less, yes! With just one swipe, I was able to achieve an intense colour and the flat lipstick glided on smoothly. The longevity wasn’t all that impressive but I enjoyed the versatility and precision.
If the colour is a little too bold for you, try applying the lipstick to your inner lips and blending it outwards to create the popular gradient lip look.
Flat Velvet Lipsticks
The Flat Velvet Lipsticks are available in six shades: (from top to bottom) BE01 Solar Beige, PK01 Rose Pink, PK02 Be My Pink, RD01 London Red, RD02 Darjeeling Red and RD03 Cassis Red.
The signature shade is RD01 London Red but the most popular shade in stores is PK01 Rose Pink, which is the closest to a MLBB shade for me. To create a gradient lip, I would suggest trying RD02 Darjeeling Red and RD03 Cassis Red.
Flat Glossy Lipsticks
The Flat Glossy Lipsticks were a lot more vibrant and will leave your lips with a nice sheen that’s not tacky at all. These are great for days when your lips are chapped but you still want to have some colour on them.
However, these didn’t last as long as the Flat Velvet Lipsticks.
Similarly, the Flat Glossy Lipsticks are available in six shades. From left to right, CR01 Gemstone Coral, OR01 Punch Orange, PK01 Lily Pink, PK02 Rococo Pink, RD01 New York Red and RD02 Berry Up Red.
The bestselling shade for this range is CR01 Gemstone Coral, a bright pop of hot pink. What I liked most about this shade was that it left behind a light berry tint when it faded.
