I have always been fascinated with practitioners of parkour, and finally here’s an event that brings together anyone who is interested in the sport.
Lion City Gathering returns this year from 12 to 15 September 2019 for newbies and veterans alike to immerse in the elegant world of parkour. It’s been ongoing since 2015.
This annual event brings like-minded practitioners in both the local and international scene together to train and share their experience together. Providing an avenue for talented athletes, Parkour awareness can be brought to greater heights via this event.
There will be an Intro to Parkour workshop catering to beginners of all ages in parkour where you will be able to learn the basics of parkour and discover benefits of the movement in a safe environment with the guidance of experienced parkour coaches.
Specialty workshops are also held by renowned international coaches that will teach specialty skills for intermediate level practitioners to elevate their skill level.
Those who feel that they possess the necessary skill sets already, you can participate and show off your skills in the public challenges where you get to stand a chance to win a prize based on the challenge completed. Think you can do the most number of muscle-ups? Put your muscles to the test.
There is even a World Chase Tag event for you to partake in- this is a reboot of childhood game, chase tag (catching), except that it is higher paced and competitive. This event will take place in a knock-out team format and there is a cash reward for the winning team as well.
Of course, the main highlight of this Lion City Gathering would be the Asian Parkour Championships where the best of the best will compete. You can sign up for On-Site Qualifiers here if you’re keen to join.
For most of us, we can sit back and watch the entertainment unfold as athletes will compete based on speed or style for the championship.

It is great to see parkour receiving such recognition in Singapore where practitioners can come together and celebrate this form of movement. For those who have always wanted to do such stunts but are afraid of falling on the cold, hard ground, this event is the perfect kick-start for you with the safety measures put in place.
