Pantone announced the Colour Of The Year 2018, and it’s… Ultra Violet! For those who haven’t got the faintest idea what Ultra Violet is, it’s a dreamy shade of lilac that represents an introspective exploration of self-expression, individuality and emotion.
Ready to get inspired for 2018? Here’s a list of 10 kicks that you should get in the shade of Ultra Violet:
1. Nike Air Force 1 Low in Iced Lilac
The iridescent shine on this pair of sneakers is emitting some serious galactic adventure vibes.
Launched in the Spring 2017 Nike Air Force 1 Low collection, this cool pair of colour-shifting kicks that quickly rose to popularity is definitely one that you should add to your 2018 sneaker repertoire.
Just check out those fancy colours right there – you’ll definitely be turning heads!

2. Women’s Nike Air Max Thea Ultra Flyknit in Dark Raisin
This is 2018 and when we work out, we do it in style. This stunning pair of Nike Air Max Thea Ultra Flyknits from Nike’s recent New Year release on 1 January is one that will get you all those envious stares in the gym.
What’s not to love about this pair of trainers? From the snug fit to the ‘wearing close to nothing’ fabric and of course, that lilac shade, it’s calling out to the millennial in me!

3. Air Jordan 1 “Season Of Her”
All it takes is one look and you’d figure out that these aren’t your typical Air Jordans. This one is for the ladies.
Thanks to the sweet satin finish and that pastel colour scheme, I’m finally convinced that even I can pull off Air Jordans without looking too OTT. I’m not sure about you but I don’t go strutting around in ankle-high basketball shoes every other day.
It looks like Nike has finally created an Air Jordan collection that is more of an everyday look.
Price: US$160 (approx. S$213)
4. Kith X Nike Lebron XV “Long Live The King” in Stained Glass
What do you get when you cross style, sports and lifestyle?
Kith, a leading lifestyle brand featuring luxurious living, has partnered up with Nike to feature a remake of the classic LeBron 15 line. Just in time for LeBron James’ birthday.
This is one pair of shoes that will transcend conventional footwear. A three-way model of styling would allow you to rock these sneakers regardless of the occasion. All it takes is a simple change of straps and you’d be ready to head out.
This exclusive collection is currently sold out on Kith’s website but you can always give it a shot and try your luck on eBay.
Price: US$230 (approx. S$305)
5. Adidas NMD Human Race ‘Respira’
You’re gonna have to keep your fingers crossed for this.
The Adidas NMD Human Race series is typically known to be rather exclusive and even sneaker fanatics like myself might not be able to get our hands on certain variants. This pair of kicks in particular, is another one of those that are made available to “friends and family only”.
Featured for the very first time on Pusha T’s Instagram, you’ll spot the signature knotted lace intertwined in teal and camel brown hues. With the majority of the sneaker in electrifying purple, the brown and white accents does a pretty good job of balancing out the colour tones.
With no official public release date in view, we can only await the latest update from Adidas in the meantime. I’m keeping my hopes up for this pair!

6. Pharrell Adidas NMD Hu Trail Holi in Flash Green-Lab Purple
For something a little whimsical, you might want to check out this pair of NMDs from Pharrell’s collection with Adidas. Does this not remind you a little of the Joker?
The tie-dye watercolour scheme featuring that bizarre neon green with hints of purple looks like something out of this world. But I somehow found myself drawn to this pair.
The absolute chaos in its design might seem as if the sneakers have been thrown into a terrible chemical treatment plant and yet, it pulls it off in an effortlessly chic manner.
If you’re thinking of getting one of these babies for yourself, you’ve got to wait till 2 March 2018.
Price: US$250 (approx. S$330)
7. Nike Air Vapormax Flyknit in Plum Fog
Wearing a pair of sneakers in full purple might sound a tad intimidating for some people and I can totally understand that. After all, purple isn’t a colour you can pull off anytime, anywhere.
So here’s a little something for sneaker lovers who’d prefer to keep things low-key and still rock a pair of fashionable kicks.
This Spring, the misty shades of lilac and violet is on fleek. This sweet and sleek Nike Air Vapormax Flyknit design is an absolute darling. Just imagine yourself working out in these babies!
Fancy but not over the top. Launched on 5 January 2018, this might just be the most wearable pair of shoes shoes on this list!

8. Nike Air Foamposite 1 Premium in “Abalone”
The Nike Air Foamposite One PRM features some flashy designs in its collection but nothing would prepare you for this pair.
I’ve got to admit, the colour scheme might lean more towards teal but the accents of violet in its iridescent shine is all it took for me to squeal.
As the name suggests, the colour-alternating glimmer mimics the abalone shell. When set against a full black backdrop, this shiny mess of bluish purple hues would instantly make your eyes pop.
No word yet on when you’ll be able to get these through the Nike online store but patience, my friends!

9. Kobe A.D. Fearless
To reflect the ‘Mamba Mentality’, also known as the quest for betterment of oneself, Kobe draws on courage and constantly pursues new obstacles from the inspiration of the colour purple.
Being a top athlete is no easy feat but being unafraid to challenge yourself, now that’s what we call the pinnacle of sportsmanship.
This design sports a monochromatic colour scheme with minimalistic designs. What you’ll be getting is a classic pair of shoes that will impress, inspire performance and deliver results.
While this release might not be a new one, the stocks are still readily available and widely circulated amongst the sneaker community.
Price: US$90 (approx. S$119) | Product Link
10. Nike Mamba Rage in Black/Court Purple/Tour Yellow
For the last contender of the Ultra Violet series, we’ve got to include the iconic Kobe Bryant collection.
Check out that gradient of black and purple weaved into the design. The subtle transition of colours are not only pleasing to the eye but also a variant from the usual clean-cut contrasting colours.
The signature Nike logo appears in a subdued yellow much to my delight. Given that the tones of the shoe are pretty much on the darker side, the yellow tones could have left that Nike logo sticking out like a sore thumb.
I’m not sure about you but the textured, lined surface reminds me of Venom from Spiderman. We got a badass over here!
